Description | A gay state senator vowed this year to keep bringing back a civil-unions bill until it passes.
He might not have to wait long.
Sen. Pat Steadman last year introduced his bill to allow gay couples to enter into civil unions. It failed on a party-line vote in a Republican-controlled House committee.
But supporters are counting on changing attitudes and the growing support of Republicans to possibly change the outcome when the same committee tonight hears this year's civil unions bill.
A new GOP group, Coloradans for Freedom, is pushing for the passage of civil unions.
"It's an issue of how we treat people and the freedoms we provide individuals," said the group's spokesman, Mario Nicolais..
