State Rep. T.J. Berry (R-Kearney) is sponsoring a bill that would limit the state’s definition of marriage to couples who are married in a church, instead classifying ceremonies performed at city hall or other venues as “domestic unions.”

Why not just call marriages performed in churches "holy marriages"?

Or call every legal coupling a union and let people call it a marriage if they want. If it's such a religious term, leave it up to individuals and keep the government's hands off it.
