Description | The U.S. Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals has declared that the election maps the Republican-led state legislature redrew in 2013 and 2015 for the Wake County Board of Commissioners and school board are unconstitutional.
In a ruling released Friday, the three-judge panel unanimously found that the maps gave an unfair advantage to voters in suburban districts.
“We see no reason why the November 2016 elections should proceed under the unconstitutional plans we strike down today,” the justices wrote in the ruling. |
