DescriptionAfter a brief reconsideration, Rep. Dave Camp, R-Mich., has decided once and for all that he will not seek the Wolverine State’s open Senate seat.

“Over the past few months, I have received a lot of encouragement to run for the United States Senate,” the Ways and Means Committee chairman said in a Friday statement. “I have greatly appreciated and am deeply humbled by those calls and conversations. After much thought and careful consideration, I have decided not to run for the United States Senate.”

Camp’s decision leaves Republicans with former Michigan Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land as the party’s lone candidate for the seat of retiring Democratic Sen. Carl Levin. However, Republican Rep. Justin Amash has not yet taken his name out of the running.
