Description | When they go to the polls on Tuesday, Massachusetts Republicans have three candidates to screen for the June 25 special election to fill the unexpired term of Secretary of State John F. Kerry.
The candidates are: state Rep. Daniel B. Winslow, 54, of Norfolk; businessman and former Navy SEAL Gabriel E. Gomez, 47, of Cohasset; and former U.S. Attorney Michael J. Sullivan, 58, of Abington.

Of the three, we are most impressed with Western Massachusetts native Daniel Winslow, a state representative, former district court judge and legal counsel to Gov. Mitt Romney. Winslow is a social liberal and a fiscal conservative, making him a candidate that some Democrats might find appealing.
During an editorial board meeting with The Republican, Winslow showed a good grasp of the demographic shifts that have made the right-leaning, tea-party influenced GOP a losing party. |
