DescriptionBackers of the Oregon ballot measure to abolish corporate "kicker" tax rebates say a new poll from SurveyUSA badly mistakes voter sentiment on the issue.

"This is the single most worthless poll question I've seen in my life," said Scott Moore, spokesman for Our Oregon, the labor-backed group sponsoring Ballot Measure 85.

The poll asks voters , "On Measure 85, which is about a corporate tax 'kicker,' are you certain to vote yes? Certain to vote no? Or not certain."

The Sept. 10-13 poll found that 14 percent were in support, 21 percent opposed and the vast majority -- 65 percent -- were "not certain."

Moore said the question gives no indication of what the measure would do to the corporate kicker. If SurveyUSA had simply recited the ballot title, as many pollsters do as a matter of course, voters would have had a clear explanation of the measure, he said.
