Description | Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell came to Mitt Romney’s defense Tuesday, hours after a controversial video surfaced of Romney speaking bluntly at a fundraiser.
“What the governor is trying to say…is that the number of people on food stamps, the number of people who have to depend on the government because of the lousy Obama economy…is unacceptable,” McDonnell said in an interview on Fox News’s “Fox and Friends.”
McDonnell sought to clarify remarks from Romney, who was caught on camera at a private fundraiser saying that 47 percent of Americans are “dependent upon the government,” a reference to the number of people who don’t pay federal income taxes. |
