Description | Kathleen Marchione, a candidate in Thursday’s Republican and Conservative primaries for the state Senate, has filed for retirement from her position as the elected Saratoga County clerk.
She is running against incumbent Roy McDonald for the Republican line and Edward Gilbert for the Conservative line for the 43rd District state Senate election.
In a press statement, Marchione indicated her retirement is an effort to prevent Gov. Cuomo, a Democrat, from appointing a Democrat as county clerk. Instead, if Marchione retires, a special election to finish her term would be on the Nov. 6 general election ballot. |
