Description | Former state Sen. Nancy Cassis will not campaign for the remainder of former U.S. Rep. Thad McCotter's congressional term, even though her name will appear on the special primary ballot next month.
"I want to make it clear that I will not actively campaign for the Special Election on September 5th," Cassis said in a release Tuesday.
Cassis lost her write-in bid soundly against opponent Kerry Bentivolio in the Aug. 7 primary for a two-year term starting next year in the 11th District. The two face three other Republican challengers in next month's special election primary for the last six weeks of McCotter's term: Steve King, Kenneth Crider and Carolyn Kavanagh, all of Livonia. |
