| Description | Megadeth leader Dave Mustaine has made no secret of his right-of-center political views, but the singer took an ugly conspiratorialist turn last week in Singapore when he said on stage during a concert Aug. 7 that President Obama is behind recent shooting rampages near Denver and Milwaukee, TMZ reports.
"My president," Mustaine began, before pausing to pantomime gagging, "is trying to pass a gun ban, so he's staging all of these murders, like the Fast and Furious thing down at the border, you know, Aurora, Colorado, all the people that were killed there. And now the beautiful people at the Sikh temple."
Twelve people were killed and 58 wounded July 20 in Aurora when a gunman opened fire inside a movie theater during a midnight screening of "The Dark Knight Rises." The suspect, James Holmes, has been charged with 24 counts of first-degree murder and 116 counts of attempted murder. Six people were killed and four wounded Aug. 5 in Oak Creek, Wisc., when a gunman identified as Wade Page, a white supremacist, opened fire at Sikh temple, then killed himself. Fast and Furious was part of a federal sting operation intended to trace the movement of weapons from legal dealers in the United States to the leaders of Mexican drug cartels. The government lost track of some weapons, which were later found at crime scenes in Mexico. |

No, your false equivalency aside, I'm pretty sure this is much more stupid actually. Blaming Palin's rhetoric for a shooting is idiotic, yes, but there are degrees of idiocy. He is suggesting that Obama actually orchestrated these shootings. That is a much more stupid thing to claim than that inflamatory speech might incite nutballs.

Mustaine is also one of those types who believes the government is trying to implant RFID chips into the populace and march them off into FEMA camps.
The last time I went to see Megadeth, the parking structure was filled with more vehicles decked with Ron Paul stickers than I'd seen anywhere else. I suppose that's an indicator of the kinds of people attending these things.

Even if the government were orchestrating these events (I don't believe that), you have to be an idiot to think the President himself was behind it. I mean, its sort of faintly possible you could have authoritarian elements within the intelligence community trying to garner support for gun control (I don't see any evidence that is happening), but the idea that Obama is just sitting there in the Oval Office with whatever douchebag replaced Rahm Emmanuel, and talking over how they can implement an Alinksyite dictatorship of the ACORN proletariat, in good, old-fashioned Communist-Nazi-Islamist ('cause, you know, they're all the same thing) fashion, well, any person who believes that should probably not be permitted to vote, as they're just too stupid.
I remember Dave Mustaine at a concert up in Oakland in 1988, telling us all how we shouldn't vote for Al Gore in the primaries. I'm pretty sure this was after the New York primary ie., Gore had dropped out. Brilliant activism there, Dave.
