Description | Green Bay -- Assembly Speaker Jeff Fitzgerald told Republican convention-goers Saturday they must focus on the June 5 recall elections, saying his own run for the U.S. Senate was “on the backburner right now.”
“June 5 is the most important day in political history,” he said of the upcoming recall election.
Democrats are attempting to recall Gov. Scott Walker and Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch and take four state Senate seats.
Speaking at the state Republican Party’s annual convention at the Resch Center, Fitzgerald told the base they need to make sure Walker wins and that Republicans take control of the now-tied Senate so GOP leaders can continue their policies.
“You helped us deliver on the most conservative session this state has ever seen,” Fitzgerald said. |
