DescriptionPROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Saying that he will not withdraw from his race for a second term, Democratic Rep. David N. Cicilline continued his apologies Wednesday for his untruthful statements about the "excellent" state of Providence municipal finances in 2010.

Cicilline said in an interview that no Democrat has urged him to withdraw for the good of the party. He denied suggestions that he has chosen this moment to apologize for his false statements in order to try to save his job.
