| Description | In a stunning development in the race for the Missouri House of Representative's 3rd District seat, incumbent Rep. Zach Wyatt has announced he will withdraw his name from contention for re-election in favor of studying marine biology.
In a press release issued just after 5 p.m. Tuesday, Wyatt (R) announced he will not seek re-election and has been accepted to the University of Hawaii to study marine biology. He will finish his term, which runs to Dec. 31.
Wyatt, an Air Force veteran, was to face former Rep. Rebecca McClanahan (D) in November after McClanahan entered the race on the final day of filing. McClanahan has served the second district for two terms before losing to Wyatt in 2010. |
