Increase in oil production touted by Obama occurred almost entirely on non-federal land beyond his control, nonpartisan study finds
BY: Andrew Stiles, The Washington Free Beacon - March 21, 2012 7:10 pm
The recent increase in domestic oil production touted by President Obama took place almost entirely on non-federal lands beyond his administration’s control, a new study has found.
The study, prepared by the nonpartisan Congressional Research Service (CRS), examined oil production on federal and non-federal land between 2007-2011. Approximately 96 percent of the total increase in domestic oil production occurred on non-federal land, CRS found.

The world is producing about as much oil as it can without tapping into deposits that are cost-ineffective or otherwise unfeasible. It's the difference between baking a cake as quickly as you can and baking a cake whilst trashing your kitchen with kitchen tools and cake batter.

Your analogy would hold some truth if there weren't a lot of bakers wanting to bake cake.
The fact is the only thing stopping oil drilling in many places within our borders is the US government.
If it were cost-ineffective, they would not to bake the cake.

Mr 2109, do you disagree me just cuz I'm Kal, or do you disagree that companies are wanting to drill, but the US government is the main thing stopping them?

I disagree with you because your logic is faulty, like most of the people who disagree with your posts.

Even within the US, the untapped formations can produce billions and billions of barrels. Not to mention the hundreds of billions in the Canadian tar sands. The world is nowhere near peak oil.

The problem isn't currently on the supply side.

Why would you want to stop eating babies? There's plenty of them being born everyday.

Exactly, but they want to believe we are at peak oil.

If you look closely at my analogy, never at any point did I claim that there isn't more oil in the Earth that hasn't been extracted that potentially could be.
On the contrary, I acknowledged that there was, and that it was not feasible to extract said oil.

Again, not true or else there would not be anyone trying or wanting to extract that oil.

If the federal government opened up all land to drilling, you sound like you believe noone would apply for a lease.
If that is true, there is no danger in opening those areas for drilling.
