DescriptionRon Paul will begin advertising Thursday in Hawaii with a spot that promotes his plan to cut $1 trillion from the federal budget.

The Hawaii caucuses are next Tuesday, March 13, the same day as primaries in Mississippi and Alabama. The Texas congressman's campaign says the commercial will air on cable TV and select broadcast outlets in the Aloha State.

While Paul has been campaigning actively in states that hold caucuses because of their delegate potential, he has yet to win the popular vote in any state. He has amassed 47 delegates as of 10 a.m. today, according to a tally by the Associated Press. A candidate needs 1,144 delegates for the Republican nomination.

The ad "is an ideal one to air in Hawaii, with its pleasant climate, because it helps separate him from the 'fair-weather conservatives' who are unwilling to make the tough decisions that will get our country back on track," Paul campaign chairman Jesse Benton said.
