DescriptionWhen Washington Governor Christine Gregoire signed same-sex marriage into law this past week, the Evergreen State became the seventh state to legalize the practice.

Opponents in Washington have pledged to overturn the legislation via referendum come November. However, an October poll from the University of Washington found that 55 percent of Washington voters favored keeping sex marriage if the legislature legalized it compared to only 38 percent who would want to overturn it.
