DescriptionDemocrats in Arizona’s newest congressional district now have a choice besides supporting the only Democrat last year who sponsored anti-immigrant legislation, Kyrsten Sinema.

Sinema’s SB1225 strengthened “Paton’s bill” that made transporting undocumented migrants in your vehicle a felony in the state of Arizona. The place at which you drop them off is considered a “drop house” which could be a place they are renting, or it could be your own house and a friend or family that is visiting.

Despite strong opposition from Latinos, Sinema stuck behind her anti-immigrant bill just like Democrat Mark Stegeman stuck behind his anti-Latino attempts to dismantle Mexican American Studies.

Ironically, Paton was the sponsor of previous anti-MAS bills that failed under Governor Napolitano’s tenure.
