| Description | "Now that’s some constituent service: Sen. Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) saved a life — well, a scalp, anyway — when he extinguished a man whose hair caught on fire at a Capitol Hill fundraiser.
The scene: Wednesday night at Sonoma restaurant where the freshman’s birthday (he turned 50 Thursday) was the excuse for celebration. About 50 people crowded the room, including Sens. Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.) and Jim DeMint (R-S.C.)
Michael Brody, a young political consultant and Pittsburgh native, was there too. When Toomey rose to address the room, guests stepped back to give him space — including Brody, who found himself standing just behind the senator, his back to the wall." |
