DescriptionRepublicans across the state are reportedly wooing U.S. Rep. Pat Meehan, R-7, of Upper Darby, asking him to run for the GOP nod to square off in 2012 against U.S. Sen. Bob Casey Jr., D-Pa.

Delaware County GOP Chairman Andrew Reilly confirmed Thursday that he has received several phone calls from Republican officials across the state who have relayed that they would be supportive of Meehan if he had an interest in running for Senate.

“(Meehan) has a great reputation across the state for helping his constituents,” said Reilly.

Although Reilly said he doesn’t know what Meehan will ultimately decide, Reilly believes the congressman is focused on the 7th Congressional District at this time.
