Description | "January 26 - In a move with significant implications in New Jersey and across the country, U.S. Senator Jon S. Corzine, the chairman of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, plans to endorse John Kerry for President on Tuesday, according to multiple sources in New Hampshire and New Jersey.
The state’s senior senator spent part of Monday making phone calls to the rest of the Democratic field -- which includes several of his Senate colleagues -- informing them of his decision.
The move puts Corzine at odds with much of his home state’s Democratic establishment. Gov. James E. McGreevey, the highest ranking Democrat in the New Jersey, endorsed former Vermont Governor Howard Dean, then the race’s front-runner, last month, and brought with him several dozen state legislators and 14 of state’s 21 Democratic county chairmen."
