Description | Jon Huntsman, the former ambassador to China under President Barack Obama who resigned his post to present himself as a Republican presidential candidate, has announced that he will likely not participate in the lead-off caucuses in Iowa.
Huntsman, who served as the governor of Utah from 2005 until he was called by Obama to be ambassador in 2009, cited his anti-ethanol views as a reason to disinclude himself from the Iowa competition. The state benefits from the use of corn-based ethanol, so Huntsman's ideas on the subject would not be well-received, Slate reported.
Huntsman is currently in New Hampshire, another early primary state, making his debut as a candidate. |
