DescriptionToday is the deadline for candidates to turn in signatures for the ballot, and four more mayoral hopefuls have turned in nominating petitions.

Mayoral candidates Wes Gullett, Claude Mattox, Peggy Neely and Jennifer Wright have submitted signatures hoping to officially qualify for the Aug. 30 ballot.

Thane Eichenauer, who ran last year as a libertarian candidate for state treasurer, said he was only able to collect about 250 signatures and plans to stay in the mayor's race as a write-in candidate. Anna Brennan had yet to submit her signatures as of noon on Wednesday but is expected to submit them later this afternoon.

Wright, who entered the race late, turned in more than 3,500 signatures. That's more than Gullett, who turned in more than 3,000 signatures and Mattox, who reported turning in more than 2,300. The city, however, still needs to verify that the signatures are valid.
