Description | "Former Jersey City Mayor Bret Schundler is a Republican, but that might not stop the Hudson County Democratic Organization from backing him in next year's nonpartisan mayoral election.
Schundler was heaped with lavish praise by members of the HCDO when he attended this month's swearing-in ceremony for County Executive Tom DeGise. That fueled speculation that DeGise's Democrats, who are locked in a bitter feud with Mayor Glenn D. Cunningham, would cross party lines to back Schundler for his old job next year.
