Description | Freshman North Dakota GOP Rep. Rick Berg is planning to formalize his U.S. Senate candidacy next week, multiple Republicans tell POLITICO.
The 51-year-old former state lawmaker will most likely make the announcement next Wednesday, though the exact day remains fluid, according to a Republican with knowledge of the plans. It will come just over four months since Berg was sworn into office.
Jonathan Casper, who served as Berg's deputy campaign manager in the 2010 effort that unseated Rep. Earl Pomeroy, has taken leave from his current role as legislative aide to return to the state to make political preparations, according to the source. |
