Description | The news is out. The likely candidates for state Attorney General are . . . drum roll, please . . . Bob Ferguson and Reagan Dunn. Which means that a lot of people around the state are going to be saying: Umm, who?
Neither pol has statewide recognition, and maybe that's OK. Current Attorney General Rob McKenna, who is expected to run for governor, was a county council member too when he made the leap to run for statewide office.
Sure, Dunn and Ferguson are both solid and moderate politicians. Each has served as chair of the council's Law, Justice, Health, and Human Services Committee, which deals with programs that represent the vast majority of the county's budget.
But solid and moderate adds up to one boring race. It makes one nostalgic for the 2004 AG race, when McKenna ran against fiery populist Deborah Senn, a former state insurance commissioner. Then again, it's not too late to liven up the current AG race. Any populists out there want to throw their hat in the ring? |
