ALBANY - Guy Velella, the once powerhouse Bronx state senator whose career ended in disgrace, has died. He was 66.

Velella died early Thursday morning at a Bronx hospice with his wife, Pat, and kids at his side.

He had been suffering from inoperable lung cancer and had had recently told friends and associates that doctors had given him three to six months to live.

Velella took a turn for the worse last week and was transferred from Sloan-Kettering Memorial Hospital in Manhattan to Calvary Hospital in the Bronx near his Morris Park home.
