DescriptionDozens of lawmakers have dates for President Obama’s State of the Union address Tuesday night.

And they don’t mean spouses or significant others — they’re talking about their colleagues from the other side of the political aisle.

In the wake of the Tucson shootings, Sen. Mark Udall (D-Colo.) called on lawmakers to sit with a member of the opposing party instead of the traditional seating arrangement: each party on its respective side of the House chamber.

The idea has gathered steam over the past few days, and members joked about their “dates” for the evening.
