DescriptionLaw enforcement authorities have confirmed that six Wisconsin politicians, all Republicans, have been threatened via the Internet. They are Governor Scott Walker (photo, left), Lieutenant Governor Rebecca Kleefisch, U.S. Senator Ron Johnson, Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner, and State Senators Leah Vukmir and Alberta Darling. All except Darling were elected or re-elected this past November; Johnson has been especially associated with the Tea Party.

Milwaukee’s NBC affiliate station reported that:

“The threats were made on a website and caught the attention of the FBI, Capitol Police and local law enforcement agencies.

A source familiar with the investigation says the threatening statements were posted on Craigslist by someone trying to blame conservatives for the shootings in Arizona that critically injured Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords.”
