Description | The U.S. unemployment rate averaged 9.6% in 2010, but there was a wide variation among occupations. Telemarketers, for example, had a 34.8% jobless rate, while locomotive engineers were in high demand with a 0.4% rate.
The Journal took a look at the data from the Labor Department, and put it together in a searchable and customizable graphic.
Search for a job and create customized charts comparing different professions. You just click on the job and it shows up in the chart. You can add multiple occupations.
Here’s one I put together as an example. This chart is showing that while the housing market may have stabilized enough to help real-estate agents and appraisers find jobs (someone needs to sell those foreclosures), construction professions still are lagging amid the elevated supply on the market. |
