DescriptionDespite her devastating defeat to Senate Majority Harry Reid, political experts said Tuesday night that Nevada has probably not seen the last of Sharron Angle.

Angle emerged in the U.S. Senate race after defeating GOP favorite Sue Lowden in the primary for the nomination. But for those who didn’t know her before, the former assemblywoman from Reno has been a constant candidate for about the last 15 years in Nevada.

In 2012, she could have a buffet of campaign choices.

» She could challenge incumbent U.S. Rep. Dean Heller , R- Carson City, for the seat in Nevada’s Congressional District 3.

If Heller opts to run against Sen. John Ensign, R-Las Vegas, for Ensign’s Senate seat in 2012, Angle would look to be the front-runner for that House seat, experts said. She has a strong base in the conservative district. Historically, the seat has always been held by a Republican.

» Angle also could run for the state Senate again.
She narrowly lost a GOP primary against state Senate Minority Leader Bill Raggio of Reno two years ago. Raggio is term-limited after the 2011 session of the Legislature so the seat would be open and Angle would be in a prime position, especially with the GOP base she has created, to pick it up.

» Or, Angle, with her strong conservative base, could become the Sarah Palin of Nevada and champion the campaigns of constitutionally conservative candidates.

““She has got amazing resilience,” said Ralph McMullen, the chair of the Washoe County Republican Party. “They don’t call her the Energizer Bunny for nothing. But at the same time, there is no question that this campaign has taken a toll on her and her family. I just don’t know what she will do.”
