DescriptionGov. Jan Brewer issued a statement Tuesday denying "outlandish" rumors that her health is poor.

Whispers that the incumbent Republican governor is facing a health problem that might preclude her serving out another term have been popping up on liberal blogs and social media like Twitter and Facebook over the past two weeks.

Brewer, 66, said that she consulted her doctors before committing to an election run. She said that reports questioning her health are "completely unsubstantiated."

John Dougherty, an investigative journalist who lost his bid for the Democratic U.S. Senate nomination to Rodney Glassman, called for Brewer to release her medical records last week.

"There are persistent reports from reliable sources that Gov. Jan Brewer is seriously ill and may not be capable of finishing a four-year term. The public has a right to know about her physical fitness now, not after Nov. 2," Dougherty posted on his Senate campaign's Facebook page.
