Description | TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Chairwoman Nancy Argenziano, a Republican, is leaving the Florida Public Service Commission three months early so she can endorse Democrat Alex Sink for governor.
The feisty Argenziano, a former state lawmaker, said Tuesday that she is prohibited from taking sides in political campaigns while a member of the utility regulating panel.
Argenziano questioned Republican gubernatorial candidate Rick Scott's integrity due to Medicare fraud committed by a company he once headed.
She also said Scott's energy policy would lead to higher profits for utilities and rate increases for their residential customers.
Argenziano's term is over at the end of the year and a nominating panel rejected her bid for reappointment. |
