Description | Nick Clegg ruled out the prospect of a pact with the Conservatives at the next election today by insisting that the Liberal Democrats would field a candidate in every parliamentary seat at the next election.
Clegg told delegates at his party's annual conference in Liverpool that he did not think that some "mysterious cross-contamination in Whitehall" would take place that would see the party warp into something different as a result of spending five years of coalition with the Tories.
But he warned delegates that the party needed to stand shoulder to shoulder with the Conservatives, rather than create "synthetic rows" to highlight policy differences inside cabinet between the two camps. |
