Description | Paladino seeks to end Conservative Party's reign with new party

ALBANY -- Republican gubernatorial hopeful Carl Paladino hopes to torpedo the clout of the venerable state Conservative Party with his rival "Taxpayers" line.
His campaign delivered nearly 30,000 voter signatures to the state Board of Elections on Tuesday in order to secure the ballot line in November -- twice the number of signatures needed under state law.
The goal is to deny the Conservative candidate for governor 50,000 votes, putting the party's automatic ballot status in doubt for the following election. |
