DescriptionWhat Does Supreme Court Confirmation Spell for 2nd Amendment?

Gun-rights proponents have enjoyed quite a few key victories in 2010, including a lift of the ban on carrying weapons in national parks, most recently a door slam on the Disclose Act that would apply restrictions on certain groups with regard to how they can spend political money and, most important of all, reversals on gun-control laws in D.C. and Chicago, whereby the Supreme Court determined that the 2nd Amendment takes precedent over state and local gun-control laws.

However, in spite of all this, these same proponents, such as Larry Pratt, the executive director of the Gun Owners of America (GOA), are still uneasy. That’s because one year after Barack Obama squeezed anti-gun Sonia Sotomayor into a spot on the Supreme Court, he’s also virtually snuck Elena Kagan into a seat right next to her under the radar of more high-profile news stories like BP, Arizona and Wikileaks.
