Description | With less than four weeks until the Aug. 24 primary election, Republican voters are increasingly supporting Rick Scott for governor over Bill McCollum, according to a new Florida Poll.
About 41 percent of 243 Republican voters surveyed in The Florida Poll said they would support Scott, a former hospital company CEO. Florida Attorney General McCollum had the backing of just 25 percent. The Republican primary poll results have a margin of error of 6 percentage points.
No matter who wins the race for governor - Scott, McCollum, Democrat Alex Sink or Independent Lawton "Bud" Chiles - they'll have to figure out quickly how to address what voters said in the poll was their No. 1 issue: jobs.
