Description | A handful of candidates running for Illinois governor will debate Thursday night on Chicago's far South Side. But the two biggest names in the race don't plan to show up.
The organizer says five candidates for governor have RSVPed "yes" to the debate tonight at Chicago State University. Only one of them, the Green Party's Rich Whitney, has a guaranteed spot on the November ballot. The other debate participants face objections before the state board of elections.
Independent Scott Lee Cohen is expected to survive a challenge to his paperwork, while another independent, Bill "Dock" Walls, appears to have collected fewer signatures than are required. Candidates from the Libertarian and Constitution parties still must survive electoral board reviews of their signatures. |
