DescriptionFormer Arkansas congressional candidate Tim Wooldridge is still tight-lipped on whether he will endorse Democratic primary rival Chad Causey, and he's also not saying whether he thinks his former foe can defeat Republican Rick Crawford in November.

In a telephone interview Tuesday afternoon, Wooldridge said he didn't know who would be the favorite in the general election contest. "I think it will be a lot of things" that will determine the outcome, he said, particularly "whose campaign is more relevant to the issues." Wooldridge added that the race was ultimately "a decision that voters will have".

Wooldridge, who serves as executive director of the Arkansas Association of Public Universities, fell short in the June 8 primary runoff by a narrow 50 percent to 49 percent margin. But Wooldridge has not yet endorsed Causey, a former chief of staff to retiring Rep. Marion Berry. The runoff had turned particularly negative in its final weeks, with Causey going so far as to warn the 1st District's Democratic voters that Wooldridge was a threat to switch parties.

Wooldridge chalked his non-endorsement to an inability to connect with Causey in the two weeks following the election, saying that the two had traded voicemails. But Wooldridge also reserved kind words for Crawford, calling the Republican a "fine fella" who "handled himself well" during debates in the race. Wooldridge also predicted that Crawford would "give a good accounting of himself" in the general election.
