Description | Election opinion polls for newspapers have suggested the Lib Dems are up by as many as eight points.
One of them - a ComRes poll for the Sunday Mirror and Independent on Sunday - puts the Conservatives on 31%, the Lib Dems on 29% and Labour on 27%.
The Tories said voting for the Lib Dems was a vote for a European super-state.
But the Lib Dems called this claim "desperate" - and asked how isolating the UK from Europe would help fight international crime.
In the Sunday Times, shadow foreign secretary William Hague said Lib Dem leader Mr Clegg was ready to sign up to anything proposed by the European Union to give away British powers.
Meanwhile, Gordon Brown told the Sunday Telegraph the prospect of a first Conservative budget "sends a shiver down my spine". |
