Description | Former first lady Marsha Folsom stepped down Monday as executive director of the state Democratic Party, a post she's held since January 2002.
"I'm excited about having a little down time," Folsom said, adding that she won't miss the drive from her home in Cullman to the state party headquarters in Montgomery.
Mike Kanarick, who was press secretary from June 2002 through mid-January for then-Gov. Don Siegelman, replaces Folsom as executive director, the person who handles the party's day-to-day operations.
