| Description | Cost of Davis recall election: $25 million -- Taxpayers could be on the hook for millions of dollars -- including Gov. Gray Davis' campaign expenses -- if an effort to recall the governor qualifies for the ballot. In addition to the estimated $25 million that it would cost to hold a special statewide election, under the state constitution Davis could ask to be reimbursed for his costs if he defeats the recall.
