Description | OTTAWA–Stephen Harper will put his minority government to the test on Friday in a key budget vote that includes the popular home renovation tax credit.
However, the NDP is likely to support the Conservative minority government in the confidence vote and avert another federal election – at least for now – party sources told The Canadian Press.
Finance Minister Jim Flaherty today filed a notice of the ways and means motion to implement portions of the government's March budget and announced the vote would come at the end of the week.
Flaherty also hinted that a quarterly report card on progress on stimulus spending efforts would be released at the same time.
The Liberals have declared they will no longer support the minority government — including Friday's vote.
Bloc Leader Gilles Duceppe said today his MPs will support the ways and means motion if it includes the home renovation tax credit — and no poison pills. |
