Description | Gov. Rick Perry says he can understand why some parent are upset that President Obama plans to talk to school children next Tuesday via a webcast. The event is touted as a way for the president to talk to students about the importance of education and taking responsibility for learning. Presidents Ronald Reagan and George HW Bush made similiar pitches to school kids way back when, in a different time, in a different political atmosphere.
In an interview with AP, Perry said he disagreed with some conservative groups calling on parents to pull their children out of school, saying, he's "certainly not going to advise anybody not to send their kids to school that day."
But he also blamed the White House for not letting local schools and parents know more about what he was planning to say. |
