The Republican Party is courting Corning Mayor Tom Reed to run against freshman Democratic Congressman Eric Massa, according to the head of the National Republican Campaign Committee.
Reed announced recently that he won't run for re-election as mayor this year because he is considering another possible public service opportunity. He remains tight-lipped about those plans.
However, in an interview with the political Web site FiveThirtyEight.com, National Republican Campaign Committee Executive Director Guy Harrison said several freshman Democrats, including Massa, will be targeted next year. He specifically mentioned Reed as a possible opponent. |
