Description | Allentown Morning Call blog.
"U.S. Rep. Charlie Dent endorsed Pat Toomey for Senate this morning, backing a Republican candidate who preceded him in Congress in the 15th District.
The endorsement, on WAEB's Bobby Gunther Walsh show, isn't a shock. Dent and Toomey have maintained a good relationship since Toomey left Congress in 2005. In fact, it could signal that U.S. Rep. Jim Gerlach, with whom Dent is close, has decided against a run for Senate. Gerlach's been coy about his intentions -- although those close to him think he'll run for governor.
"The Republican Party of Pennsylvania has a strong, effective candidate in Pat Toomey to win a crucial Senate seat in 2010, no matter which Democrat he will face," Dent said in a statement." |
