DescriptionGood morning.

Much of our attention today will naturally be focused on the prime-time news conference President Obama has scheduled for 8 p.m. ET. Our plan is to both webcast and live-blog the event. So check back here as the time draws near.

Also on today's agenda: A USA TODAY Newsmaker discussion with Karen Ignagni, president and CEO of America's Health Insurance Plans. We're planning to webcast it, at 2 p.m. ET, and we're soliciting questions that you think should be asked. Ignagni's organization represents 1,300 health insurers.

As for stories making headlines this morning, they include:

-- Boston Herald -- One pollster puts Obama's approval/disapproval around 50-50: "The honeymoon is over, a national poll will signal today as President Obama's job approval stumbles to about 50% over the lack of improvement with the crippled economy. ... Pollster John Zogby said his poll out today will show Americans split on the president's performance. He said the score factors out to 'about 50-50.' " (Gallup's latest tracking poll gives Obama a 65% "approval" rating to 26% "disapproval."

-- Louisville Courier-Journal -- President says Republicans can't just be "against whatever the other side is for": In an interview with reporters from the Courier-Journal and five other newspapers, President Obama "chided Republican lawmakers for opposing his initiatives without offering alternatives. He added that "you could play that game maybe in the early '90s, when basically we were pretty prosperous. Right now, everybody's got to pull together." (The story is also posted here.)
