DescriptionNearly two months into an historic session of Congress wrestling with one of the nation’s severest economic crises, voters have not changed their opinions of major congressional leaders from both parties.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi also continues to be the best known of the bunch.

Thirty-six percent (36%) of voters have a favorable opinion of Pelosi, the congresswoman from San Francisco, including 15% whose view of her is Very Favorable, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey.

But most voters (53%) regard Pelosi unfavorably, with 37% who have a Very Unfavorable opinion of her. Only 11% are not sure what they think of the speaker.

Fellow Democrat Harry Reid, the Senate majority leader, is viewed favorably by 29%, with just six percent (6%) Very Favorable, and unfavorably by 42%, including 26% with a Very Unfavorable view of him. But 30% still don’t know enough about the Nevada senator to have an opinion.

For the two Republican leaders, the news is even worse. Twenty-six percent (26%) have a favorable view of House Minority Leader John Boehner, with six percent (6%) Very Favorable. Thirty-one percent (31%) see him unfavorably, including 10% who have a Very Unfavorable opinion of the Ohio congressman.

Despite the Republicans’ unified stand against the unpopular $787-billion economic stimulus plan and other costly Obama Administration initiatives, 43% of voters are not sure enough about Boehner to have an opinion of him.

The same goes for the GOP leader in the Senate, Mitch McConnell of Kentucky. Twenty-nine percent (29%) regard him favorably, with seven percent (7%) who have a Very Favorable view of the Senate minority leader. Thirty-one percent (31%) see him unfavorably, including nine percent (9%) who have a Very Unfavorable view, but 40% are not sure what they think
