DescriptionIt's been said the Liberals will never win in Alberta.

One can't help but wonder if some Liberals agree with that downbeat assessment.

Alberta's Opposition Liberal Leader David Swann is putting his party under a microscope, striking up a task force to review its policies -- and to gauge whether there's an appetite for changing its century-old name.

Edmonton Liberal MLA Mo Elsalhy will head the effort, which is expected to include meetings with party members and public forums.

"I asked them to review our constitution, our bylaws, review our key policy positions and ultimately ask about whether people are stuck to the name or are they open to a different name," said Swann, who met with the Calgary Herald's editorial board earlier this week.

The rookie Liberal boss said the task force's findings will likely be debated at the party's annual convention in October.
