Description | Ayman Taha, a Hamas leader, said that the fate of Cpl Shalit, captured in a cross-border raid in 2006, is "a separate issue and should be dealt with in the framework of a prisoner exchange only".
Speaking after truce talks brokered by Egyptian officials in Cairo, he added: "Hamas does not agree to link the release of Shalit with a truce and the lifting of the blockade."
Hamas leaders held talks with Egypt's intelligence chief, General Omar Suleiman, on Sunday aimed at shoring up the ceasefire that ended 22 days of war in Gaza and opening up the tiny Palestinian territory's borders, days after a similar visit by an Israeli envoy.
