Description | TORONTO — It looks like Progressive Conservative Leader John Tory will finally be able to run for a seat in the Ontario legislature.
PC Party sources are confirming that Conservative MPP Laurie Scott will step aside so Tory can run in the riding of Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock, near Peterborough.
However, the sources deny other media reports that said Scott would be given the job as Tory's chief of staff in exchange for giving up her seat.
Tory's office won't confirm or deny any of the reports, and will say only that the leader will make an announcement Friday 'outside of Toronto.'
Scott's office also declined comment on the reports, some of which have her running again in 2011 while Tory searches for yet another riding.
Tory has struggled to find a caucus member to resign so he could run since he lost to Liberal Education Minister Kathleen Wynne in the 2007 election. |
